Favorite Send to FastDrawIllini Break is a competitive, team transition drill. The offense has the advantage and gets to play fast. Forcing the defense to get back with a high sense of urgency. We want to always fastbreak on defense. But first, we must emphasize our offensive board coverage (OBC). Then, if we do not secure the offensive rebound, all five players must get into the habit of always sprinting back. We consider your first three steps “out of the gate” as the most important. Guarding the basket is our number one priority and then stopping the ball. Once back, all five defenders need to establish ball side and help side position. This drill demands that, and more. Get ahead of the ball! No back pedaling, buddy running (remaining side by side with your match-up) and/or pouting after a missed shot or turnover. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawCreighton 100 is a great team shooting drill that also doubles as a fun, challenging conditioner. 100 made baskets in five minutes is the minimum. Obviously, the more skilled your team is the higher the goal should be. More times than not our goal is 120 mfg's for our varsity team. Teams will discover the importance of precision passing, fundamental layup skills and positive energy. We really like to finish with this competition the day before a game. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawPlay live 3v3 but with the following rules. Rule 1: Any dribble that does not attack or break the plane of the 3 point line is a turnover. Rule 2: The only place the ball can be caught is on a cut to the rim or behind the 3pt line. Play make it take it to 10 by 1s and 2s. See More
Favorite Send to FastDraw2 on defense, 2 on offense. The defenders are in the corner and wing on one half f the court, and the offense on the other. The first defender passes to the second defender and begins to closeout diagonally. The second defender skips the ball and then closesout to the gap. Live play begins on the offense catch. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawBoth players start on the block with a passer at the top of the key. The offense (1) starts with the ball and tosses it out to the passer. As soon as the ball is out of 1s hand, 1 and x1 sprint to the wing. 1 receives a pass from 2. Live 1v1 play ensues See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe premise of this drill is to mimic quick action in early offense. This will improve your screening, how your guys/girls catch and shoot and read the defense. On the flip side your defense will be able to not let cutters cut without being bumped and improve communication. We play a game to seven. There are three options to this drill outlined below. Drill #1 is a UCLA cut. Drill #2 works on the Ghost Screen and drill #3 has a backdoor option. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawConditioning and shooting wrapped into one. Working on stepping into the shot, transition shooting footwork, and quick conditioning. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawFast-paced drill focusing on footwork, balance, and of course putting the ball in the basket. 30 seconds for each rotation keeps it fresh and helps players learn to score from multiple spots on the floor with regularity. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawCompetitive, high energy shooting drill that works on the 1 dribble pullup. Has multiple variations, including competing against the clock, 2 or more in a row at each spot, etc. Great to use during Improvement Season workouts or as a change of pace in practice. See More
Favorite Send to FastDraw1 begins with the ball on the elbow and will speed dribble around the cone at the top of the key. Once 1 takes their first dribble, x1 must sprint around the cone and defend. 1 can score only in the paint. Switch after each shot and play first to 7 points by 1s. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawOne of the best ways to develop individual skill is to play 1v1 against players that are going to challenge you. That being said, rolling the ball out and playing mindless 1v1 is not the best option to achieve one's desired outcome. What I will advocate for in this article is to play multiple variations of 1v1 games in order to grow one's skill and challenge oneself in a unique way. For a PDF of all the games and drills shown in this article (as well as a bonus drill), please click here. See More
