The play starts with Tyus Jones giving a "thumbs down" signal and a down-screen set for 4 in the corner. 4 curls the screen and sets a cross-screen for Okafor. This play was used by Duke with 15:31 left in the 2nd half against Gonzaga when Duke was down by 2 points. The play uses a pick-the-picker action to get Winslow the ball on the wing for an open shot. In the game, Winslow made a good shot fake and drove to the basket for a lay-up. The most important part of this play was a good screen set by Winslow forcing his man to help on the initial cut. If he isnt' open, Cook looks at 4 popping out after the screen. 4 then dribbles left and gives the ball to Winslow on a dribble hand-off. Winslow stops behind the hand-off and takes the 3-point shot. This play was used eary in the game against Robert Morris and resulted in a foul down low as Okafor went up for a shot off of the hi/lo pass. Coach K does a great job creating an overload that forces Robert Morris to spread out and leave 1 defender on Okafor under the basket. Okafor seals the middle man in the zone and looks for the pass over the top. In the game, x4 could have helped on the lob pass but was stuck anticipating that the ball would be pass to Tyus Jones for a 3-point shot. See More

Here are two zone options against a 2-3 zone from Tom Izzo and his Michigan State Spartans. The play starts with a dribble entry to the right wing pushing 2 into the lane. 2 stops at the rim as 5 screens the middle defender in the zone. 2 then curls around the screen looking to get the ball in the middle of the zone. On the weak side, 4 screens for the low defender on the left side to free up 3 cutting up to the wing. Once 2 gets the ball, the bottom left zone defender has to make a decision on who to guard. If he guards 3 on the wing, 2 passes to 4 for lay-up (Option 1). If the defender takes 4 in the post, 2 passes to 3 for a shot (Option 2). See More

Here is a 1-4 high play that Arizona liked to use early in the games this season. The play creates an overload on the left side of the floor to open up a quick lob for the point guard. If the lob isn't open, multiple ball-screens and hand-offs are executed to create scoring options. Here is a multiple stagger set play from Wichita State. The play starts with an entry pass to the wing and a back-screen for the point guard. As the point cuts into the lane, 4 moves to the ball-side block looking for the post up. The first staggered screen is then set getting the shooting guard the ball at the top of the key. If no shot is available, 5 and 2 play a pick-and-roll as 3 cuts off of a baseline staggered screen to the corner. See More

Here is a quick zone hitter from Wichita State used to create an open lob. The play starts with a ball reversal and a pass to 4 in the corner. Once 4 gets the ball, 5 steps to the short corner looking for a shot. If 5 isn't open, 4 dribbles up to the wing bringing the zone defender up with him. 4 then passes to 2. At that time, 3 flashes to the high post taking the attention of the zone defenders. 2 quickly passes to 1 as 5 slips behind the zone defenders to set a back-screen for 4. 1 looks to make the lob pass over the top of the defense to 4 for a dunk. The play starts in a 2-guard front with all five players above the free-throw line. With a reversal of the ball and a cut from 3 to the left corner, the team creates an overload on the left side which opens up the initial back-cut and lob option to 4. If 4 isn't open, he clears out as 5 dribbles across the floor looking to pass to 1 cutting to the basket. David Stockton has had success making the back-cut on this play. See More

In this SLOB from Coach David Arseneault Jr., the Big Horns start with an interchange of 4 and 3 to the blocks and 1 cutting up alone to the top of the key to get the ball. 1 then takes the ball to the opposite side of the floor sending 2 on a cross-screen at the free-throw line to the left wing and 3 to the right corner away from the action. If 2 isn't open, 1 gets a ball-screen from 4 who sprints to the ball-screen off of a down-screen from 5. The action at the top of the key opens up pick & roll as well as a duck-in for 5 inside. With 1:36 left in the game vs. Wisconsin, Tyus Jones hit a huge 3-point shot to put the Blue Devils up 66-58. The play started with Jones dribbling to the left as Winslow looped around to set up for a ball-screen. Jones waved off Winslow sending him out to the wing. Okafor sprints up to set a ball-screen for Jones. Koenig goes over the top of the screen and Kaminksy is moving backwards as Okafor rolls leaving just enough room for Jones to pull up for a 3-point shot. See More
