Basketball Play - 1v1 with Advantage

1v1 with Advantage

John Leonzo 06/30/2016

One of the best ways to develop individual skill is to play 1v1 against players that are going to challenge you. That being said, rolling the ball out and playing mindless 1v1 is not the best option to achieve one's desired outcome. What I will advocate for in this article is to play multiple variations of 1v1 games in order to grow one's skill and challenge oneself in a unique way. If x4 does not jump to the ball or lets 4 cut across their face to the basket, 4 needs to take the cut that the defense is giving. 4 should always attempt to face cut to the basket as their first option. If 4 is not open on their basket cut because their defender is now on the ball side denying a return pass, 4 can break from their cut and set a down screen. By starting with a cut 4 is also able to improve their screening angle. See More
