Basketball Play - San Diego State Aztecs - Over Curl Chase

San Diego State Aztecs - Over Curl Chase

Dave Nedbalek 11/27/2018

This is a great set utilizing components of Coach Beilein's two-guard offense. The down screen from 1 to 2 has multiple options: 2 could reject the screen, use and send 1 backdoor, or the way it's run here with 2 tight curling and 1 popping back out. Check out the video below. Side note: a great counter would be after 1 popping out, to then go hard backdoor on the heels of 2's cut. FMS Blog: Maui Invitational - Top 10 Plays See More

Basketball Play - SSG: PNR React Drill

SSG: PNR React Drill

Zachary Weir 10/08/2018

A great drill that combines ball screen reads with a SSG. The offense is put into different ball screen situations all over the court and given an advantage. The goal of the offense is to use the ball screen, find the advantage quickly and score. The fiirst progression is that the offense will get one ball screen and one oppurtunity to score. Progressions: 1. Add the missing defender after a set amount of time. (7 seconds) and play it live. 2. Change PnR coverage to work on all situations. (Soft hedge, Blitz, Switch, Hard Hedge, etc..) Basketball Play - Minnesota Gophers - Pin Down Flare PNR

Minnesota Gophers - Pin Down Flare PNR

Andy Stark 04/10/2018

This play by Richard Pitino is a great misdirection set. It really tries to test the defensive team on the backside of the flare screen coverage. If the flare screen support is too much, defenders will be late on ball screen support. This became a money play with Minnesota down the stretch. The big that sets the ball screen can also slip it. If the defensive team stunts at the ball screen too hard, it is best to have a best shooter (3) on the strong side of the ball screen (the player who just came off the flare). Basketball Play - Loyola Chicago - Elbow PNR

Loyola Chicago - Elbow PNR

Matt Wheeler 03/22/2018

Loyola Chicago runs this elbow action to get its 4 the ball to attack in a middle ball screen. 1 passes to 4 at the elbow then screens for 3. 3 cuts to the weak side leaving 1 as the only player on the right side of the floor, forcing his defender to provide help on 5 rolling to the basket. 4 looks to create a shot for himself, pass to 5 on the roll to the basket or hit 1 filling behind the play on the wing. If 1 gets the ball, he can look at 5 in the post or create a shot off the dribble. See More
