Basketball Play - Stack 1, Stack 2 and Stack 3

Stack 1, Stack 2 and Stack 3

Randall Edens 07/09/2013

Today's Focus: Baseline Out of Bounds Sets that help with Set Up on the floor, communicating with hand signals the 'Call' itself and being effective at the same time with the design. Simple? Yes...but effective when done correctly. Typically, we will go with a different core of 3-5, similar set up, each season. We have specials too, but these here will be our staples pending the season. These are typical sets we run over the summer too as they are EASY to remember. Frame 1 + 2 = Stack 1, Frame 3 + 4 = Stack 2 and Frame 5 + 6 = Stack 3 Soon... a BOX Series, a Shapes Series and a Letter Series of BLOB plays from me. Any questions, please follow me @CoachEdens and shoot me a message and I'd be glad to help. See More

Basketball Play - Sun Box Triple

Sun Box Triple

Daniel Murphy 06/14/2013

Baseline out of bounds play ran by the CT in their 66-62 loss to the Mystics 6/7/13. The play starts off with a familiar box set action. Often when 4 passes to 1, 4 would screen the screener. The Sun flipped the down screeners, having a big screen a little into the lane. Usually a little will screen a big into the lane. This change allowed 2 to run the baseline coming off of 4 and 5's screens. Having the bigs screen the guard on the baseline should prevent a switch. See More

This is a baseline out of bounds play that I ran for my Junior Varsity squad this past season. I initially drew it up figuring it would work well versus man defense. However, as the season progressed, I found that this play worked almost every time against a zone (especially 2-3) zone. It takes some time to teach younger players how to screen in different situations but my 5's become great at sealing under the rim and almost always resulted in a lay-up. See More

This is a baseline out of bounds play that I ran this season with my high school team. Initially when I drew up this action I invisioned utilizing the ending of the play to get 5 a lay-up. But the option that was usually open was 3 cutting to the wing for a shot. 5 was rarely open for 2 reasons; one was a lack of patience and two being that they would forget to run this option. Nevertheless, this is a simple play that I believe can be utilized at every level of the game. See More

Basketball Play - Zone Inbounds- Low Stack

Zone Inbounds- Low Stack

Daniel Murphy 04/20/2013

We have run this play with great success at the freshmen, junior varsity, and u15 aau level. It is a very simple, yet effective baseline inbounds play against a 2-3 zone. Make sure 1 is your best shooter so if the defense stays home, you have a wide open look at a 3, or to drag the defense to the corner to open up the screening action inside. See More
