Favorite Send to FastDrawIn diagram and embedded video we look at a set play out of a 1-4 high alignment. After a wing entry and UCLA screen, the ball is centered and there is an option to use screens on either side for a shooter. If a shot isn’t there off the screen, it’s time for those screeners to seal up for an interior touch. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we get a drill we used during our positional breakdown portion of practice for our post players. It teaches rebounding, offense and defense in some capacity, and challenges player’s endurance. I really like how it teaches players how to create shots inside with limited space. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play for a gap drive. I like this set and think it is unique in how it is designed. In my opinion, gap drive concepts are always in demand by coaches. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we take a look at a drill to emphasize some of the smaller details of individual and team defense. This can’t replace your shell drill, as I am a firm believer that the shell drill is the best baseline teacher for team defense. But this drill is a great way to brush up on techniques used on the defensive end. We used it usually once every two weeks or so as a change up. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis diagram and film looks at the basic Princeton Chin action. The action is a bit monotonous, but can be very effective. The action is a continuity, so you can just keep running it until you get a scoring opportunity. It's very good against pressure defense. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we get into a simple spread ball screen action after some false motion. I like the spacing and movement of the design. Spread ball screen concepts are penetrating high school basketball more and more. Shifting the defense before the action adds a little risk, but allows the offense to attack with the defense on the move. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram + video we look at a few options to use out of the Princeton Point Series. The diagrams show the different entries, and the video shows some different options to use in a series. The options you could use are unlimited, but here is a group of actions to consider out of the series. This series can be hard to guard when executed correctly. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video, we look at the spread offense used in high school basketball. This offense uses the high post and a series of cutters to attack the defense in a variety of ways. This offensive concept has always been a unique and interesting play style to me, ever since I first saw it when Stephen F. Austin was running it under Brad Underwood in the early 2010's. The offense has evolved quite a bit, but in the video below you will see a lot of the more basic options used when it is ran at the high school level. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we look at our basic dynamic warmup we do each practice. It goes through some of the theory behind what we do and shows the basic stretches. We tended to do a dynamic warmup before practice, and a static stretch after practice. Getting the body prepared for practice is crucial to performance and injury prevention. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn today’s diagram and embedded video we look at a zone offense scheme we called “Gaps.” We simply aligned in a 1-3-1 and used concepts to attack zone defense. We used this as our base zone offense, meaning when we saw zone, we automatically went to this concept unless I overrode it with another call. The concpet is very simple, and the details of execution are what's going to make or break the success of this concept. I liked to use this, and pair it with a set package of 4-5 plays as our zone offense playbook.
