About This Play/Drill

Part of Daily Defensive DNA. Drill can be 4 on 4 or 5/5.

It is a live drill. Anytime a player isnt (1) in proper stance (2) in proper position or (3) not communicating they are removed from the drill.

This teaches the importance of each possession.

Option 1: Keep teams and score for a period of time. Losing teams have "parting gifts" for not winning.

Option 2: Remove player and perform a " You don't get to play defense" activity the remainder of the possession. (treadmill, bleachers)

  • In this frame 3 is "hugged up" on his man. Coach whistles dead and play resumes with 3 off the floor

  • Now 2 has to guard 2 & 3.

    1 passes to 2.

The 3 remaining defenders have to scramble to defend

  • If another player isn't communicating or in wrong position, pull them as well.

The drill can go to 4 on 0 if needed to get the point across of the importance of each possession
