About This Play/Drill

This is a competitive drill to work on a variety of dribble moves and finishes at the rim.  Offensive players will work on the drag dribble, veering, speed dribbling, speed stops and pull ups.

  • This one on one series will work on a variety of of skills from veering, drag dribble, finishing, shooting and decision making. X1 Starts on the hip of the player with the ball near half court or volleyball line. Player 1 begins to dribble to try to score at the basket. X1 is trying to defend player 1 from scoring.

  • Player one will eventually have a decision to make whether they are able to speed dribble to score, veer to score, speed stop, or drag dribble to score. In the example above, player one chooses to drag dribble to score.

  • In the example above, player 1 is able to veer to score.

  • In the example above, player 1 is able to speed dribble to score.

  • In the example above, player 1 speed stops.

  • After the speed stop, X1's momentum carry's then away from player 1, so player 1 shoots jumper.
