About This Play/Drill

Leonard Hamilton has often been underappreciated for what he has accomplished during his time at Florida State.

This Early Offense Set combines a number of actions to get a good shot.

The Stagger action early gives their shooter a chance to get an open shot at the top of the key and the double high ball screen gives the post a chance to either get a touch inside or the misdirection leads to isolation on the weak side for the 5 Man.

This is a very well designed set and the Seminoles patience to work it through shows you what can be done to execute all options.

  • Florida St. Early Offense vs M2M

     

    1 (Bookert - 1) passes to the trailing post 4 (Gilchrist - 14) who passes to 3 (Brandon - 32) coming out of the corner

     

    3 (Brandon - 32) looks to quickly thrown inside to 5 (Bojanovsky - 15)

  • Florida St. Early Offense vs M2M

     

    1 (Bookert - 1) & 4 (Gilchrist - 14) set a double staggered screen for 2 (Thomas - 25) who comes off looking to catch & shoot at the top of the key

     

    4 (Gilchrist - 14) posts-up in the middle of the lane looking for a quick pass

     

    1 (Bookert - 1) pops out to the wing after screening to extend the offense

  • Florida St. Early Offense vs M2M

     

    2 (Thomas - 25) passes to 1 (Bookert - 1) on the wing and makes a loop cut to the ball side corner

     

    5 (Bojanovsky - 15) moves up the lane line setting up the next action

     

    3 (Brandon - 32) drifts to the corner

  • Florida St. Early Offense vs M2M

     

    1 (Bookert - 1) comes off the double high ball screen set by 4 (Gilchrist - 14) who rolls to the opposite block looking for a quick pass & 5 (Bojanovsky - 15) rolls to the ball side block as 1 (Bookert - 1) reverses the ball to 2 (Thomas - 25) lifting out of the corner

     

    *Good misdirection post entry action

  • Florida St. Early Offense vs M2M

     

    2 (Thomas - 25) throws the wing entry post pass to 5 (Bojanovsky - 15)

     

    On the weak side, the 2 guards exchange setting up a possible kick-out pass
