About This Play/Drill

Breakdown drill for conceptual offense. Two rules at play here:

  • If you are in a single gap and the ball looks at, dribbles at or pivots at you, cut to the basket and replace to space usually a corner
  • Attack double gaps with the dribble

  • Phase A - 2v0 - Back Cut

    COACH passes to Player 1

    Player 1 LOOKS AT Player 2 who is in a single gap

    Player 2 cuts to rim and receives pass from Player 1

     

    Rotation: Player 1 moves to wing and drill continues

  • Phase A - 2v0 - Create a Double Gap

    COACH has two basketballs

    COACH passes to Player 1

    Player 1 LOOKS AT Player 2 who is in a single gap

    Player 2 cuts to create a double gap

    Player 1 attacks the double gap with the drive

    COACH passes to Player 2 in the corner for one count shot

  • Phase B - 2v1 (wing defended)

    COACH passes to Player 1

    Player 1 LOOKS AT Player 2 who is in a single gap

    Player 2 cuts to create a double gap

    Player 1 is able to make pass to back cut

  • 2v1 (wing defended)

    Player 1 is unable to pass to Player 2 on back cut, Player 2 continues cut to the corner

     

    Player 1 attacks the double gap...

  • 2v1 (wing defended)

    If X2 helps, pass to Player 2 for shot...

  • 2v1 (wing defended)

    If X2 follows cutter out of the lane, Player 1 finishes the drive

  • 2v2 Live - Apply the two rules

    Begin with pass from COACH to Player 1

     

    Player 1 LOOKS AT Player 2

     

    Upon being looked at, Player 2 cuts following the rule to initiate the possession
